Cascading Calmness
She stared at the beauty before her, mesmerized by the symphony it played. It was beautiful, calm and serene.
For the first time in forever, she felt free. She felt like she could finally hear again, finally see again.
The past two years had been an emotional rollercoaster. She had drowned in the murky waters of life, allowing herself to be consumed by the mundane tasks of her everyday life. She wanted to ignore all the pain of the past, all the emotional weights that made her sink.
It was ironically funny, she had been so sure that she was hard hearted and that nothing could ever soften her. But her best friend’s betrayal had.
She still couldn’t understand why the woman she had confided in had decided to publicly relate her problems - on her social media, nonetheless.
She had been upset, sad, angry, and finally, she was calm.
She had overreacted because her life had been crazy. She didn’t know how to deal with her emotions but finally, she was gloriously happy.
A smile played on her lips as she stared at the waterfall, allowing the soft spray of the water to kiss her face, refreshing every part of her and bringing her to life again.
She had allowed herself to stop appreciating beauty and the simple pleasures in life.
She bent down and scooped the cool water in her hand and took a small sip. She could feel the cold water caress her tongue and slide down her throat, as if cleansing her from all the negativity of the past.
She stared at the cascading waters again and wrinkled her nose. She saw the waterfall so often, almost on a daily basis and yet, she never truly appreciated the true beauty of it.
She couldn’t understand why though. It was a site so beautiful, so captivating. How did she ignore the beauty for so long?
And then it dawned on her. Her negativity made her blind from beauty.
